With a shift in the line-up forthcoming, Gentle Heat come together to create Trick, an EP that maps where they’ve been as much as it highlights where they’re headed. Due out September 8th, the songs approach shoegaze with a swarming pop quality, more concerned with rhythmic pulses and swooning hooks than layered distortion.

Set to release Phase, a new two song single on December 6th, the band have never sounded better, expanding their noise pop and shoegaze ability into a freeform shape. The immersive single, while only a pair of songs, feels expertly composed, and wrought with gigantic sweeping movements.

It’s been less than a year since Gentle Heat released their debut album, but the Chicago quartet are back with a new EP, Liminal. Due out on February 1st via Skeletal Lightning, the band continue to refine their propulsive pop noise with influences from krautrock, power-pop, and post-hardcore with a squeaky clean delivery.
