Blessed Fruit is easily the most violent and deranged the band have ever sounded. The entire record is sonically threatening to bury you under a mountain of high frequency feedback and piercing levels of gain. Coincidentally, it’s also the first to be professionally mastered, with Will Killingsworth of Dead Air Studios to thank for this one.

Boston’s favorite blown out weirdos, Blue Ray, are back at it yet again, set to release, Live Laugh Love, on November 14th via Illegally Blind and Midnight Werewolf. Noted as their final album as a duo, the band’s sound has always been sort of the opposite of high definition, let’s lovingly call it “lo-def,” and they’ve never sounded better.

Set to release OGFIL at the tail end of the year via Super Wimpy Punch Records, their latest is a shift in delivery, though a slight one. Instead of the band’s usual approach to letting the vocals peak way into the red with yelps and carefree ramshackle melodies, Johnny Steines opts for a story-telling approach, weaving colorful observations and an active sense of humor into spoken word.

Their latest is another aggressively blown out batch of perfected weirdness. Squealing distortion is used like paint on the canvas, coloring in songs with otherwise common structures, dropping enormous bursts of noise and feedback with a haphazard sensibility.
