Forget politics for a moment and let us appreciate Washington, DC’s finer qualities, like a rich history of great DIY bands from hardcore to punk and indie rock. With that we’d like to introduce you to Tosser, a quartet that have been steadily making an impression throughout their scene, playing shows with Snail Mail, Ratboys, Girl Band, Omni, and beyond. The quartet have shared two EPs since 2017, and on February 21st they are set to release their debut album, Total Restraint. The band play a delightfully noisy brand of indie rock that’s often overblown and shellacked in a fine coat of fuzzy distortion. Syrupy power-pop melodies wrestle against blankets shoegaze while everything feels crafted just as recklessly as it should be. They’re that type of band that you hear and instantly want to see live.

“Wishful Thinking” is the record’s first single, just one of many highlights (wait til you hear the opening duo of songs), and we’re excited to share the band’s Peter Wagner directed video. The single wastes no time, bursting right into the sonic sprawl of their slacker punk, dragging their feet, while their tonality explodes all around in vivid colors. It’s laid back and bent pop with the feedback up all the way and hooks fit in everywhere they may fit. The video finds the band performing with turtles and a Furbie, pretty much everything you need.
