CMJ can be a complicated time for many young people... you may start noticing hair in new places... wait a minute, scrap that. CMJ Music Marathon is an annual "festival" in celebration of new music and emerging artists that takes place over the course of an October week every year throughout New York City and Brooklyn. There's always a lot to see and never enough time to catch everything. Similar to SXSW in it's "let's have bands play anywhere bands could conceivably play" approach, the already busy city gets a lot busier. While SXSW allows determined folks the ability to hop around from show to show with the greatest of ease (if that's your thing), CMJ is a bit more difficult and often it's best to pick a single show and stick with it... but if you're like me, you want to see it all... eating meals and sleeping be damned. So with that mentatily, here's a rather comprehensive list of our recommended bands playing. Don't get overwhelmed and remember there's no where you'd rather be than Palisades on Friday, October 16th (gratuitous self-endorsement).
